I have broken at the end of the last stage and was towed into the final time control (with Dave Turner in a Mitsubishi PIckup in 1995). I was Matt Iorio's first-ever co-driver at the 2002 Lake Superior Rally.

Lake Superior is the site of my only ever national stage rally podium, in 2001 with Patrick Richard. We finished third, behind Mark Lovell/Mike Kidd and Rhys Millen/Lauchlin O'Sullivan (yes, Lauchlin was actually co-driving for Rhys!). It was a truly special weekend.

I love the scenery of the Upper Peninsula. I love the stages and the unpredictability of the weather. I love the friendly people, pasties at the Suomi Bakery, beers at the Library, fishbowls at the Ambassador... I miss the old Library too (I did get to visit it before it burned).

Obviously I wish I was competing, but I look forward to bringing the excitement of the MaxAttack! two-wheel-drive rally series presented by the Danza del Sol winery to fans via the internet. Look for updates on this page, of course, and also at http://www.specialstage.com and the occasional Tweet when there is breaking news.

Events:

Lake Superior Performance Rally

Wed, 13 Oct 2010 22:28:10 +0000 Ben 159 at http://www.max-attack.com http://www.max-attack.com/node/159#comments MAXATTACK! What originally began as a grassroots effort to send under-funded two-wheel drive dynamo Cody Crane to contest the third and final round of MaxAttack! has quickly evolved in to a three-car program. The MaxAttack! Team NW is comprised of Cody Crane/Billy Irvin in a 1988 Honda CRX, Dave Henderson/Terrance McDowell in the 2006 Mazda3, and Brian Gottlieb/Pat Darrow...who have recently acquired a new rally car after their 1987 Toyota FX-16 Corolla burned to a crisp at the Idaho Rally this past July (We’ll reveal what Brian’s new car is next Wednesday!).

Read the full story with promo video at http://www.worldrallysport.com/node/6650

Sat, 21 Aug 2010 20:25:25 +0000 Jason 129 at http://www.max-attack.com http://www.max-attack.com/node/129#comments MaxAttack TeamNW is formed! http://www.max-attack.com/node/102

The NorthWest has consolodated their effort to get to LSPR! The car is running fairly well, still leaks a little oil but runs nice. With the help of a friend I just put in a new clutch and replaced the front brake rotors and lines. Now, I have no brake pressure.

To answer the obvious question: yes, I bled the brakes. Then bled them again. And again. And again. Then replaced the master cylinder, and bled them yet another time. The pedal still goes to the floor and no, there are no leaks. Off to a friend's house to get the brakes vacuum bled. Hopefully that works.

Wed, 19 Aug 2009 01:38:23 +0000 Paul Donlin 87 at http://www.max-attack.com http://www.max-attack.com/node/87#comments New max-attack.com features http://www.max-attack.com/node/84

I opened max-attack.com to user registrations a couple of weeks back (just ahead of NEFR). For the most part it worked out ok. Some people had issues with the live chat function, but I have now changed to a different chat room tool, by Meebo, which seems to work much better so far. We will see how it goes this weekend, for New England Forest Rally.

The next phase of max-attack.com is that I'm going to invite everyone who is interested in writing and blogging about MaxAttack! to register for a user account here and start writing! Let's see how it all works. I'm still feeling my way around with this site's configuration.

Wed, 15 Jul 2009 01:14:39 +0000 Shenan 78 at http://www.max-attack.com http://www.max-attack.com/node/78#comments
